Dahlback was founded in 1974 as a state owned company in East Germany and since then grew organically as well as through acquisitions. Today the company is one of the five largest bakery chains in Germany, operating more than 350 outlets and employing almost 2,000 people. Dahlback is the clear market-leader in the North-East of Germany with three production facilities in Dahlewitz (Berlin/Brandenburg), Pasewalk and Gägelow (Mecklenburg Western-Pomerania). Dahlback serves an area from Berlin up to the coastline of the North Sea with its highly attractive touristic centres into parts of Schleswig-Holstein.
Steadfast Capital acquired a majority holding in Dahlback in 2005 and facilitated the family succession. In December 2010 Dahlback acquired the Pasewalk based UHB. With this step the company more than doubled its size and is therefore well positioned in the highly competitive German bakery market.
