Kautex Maschinenbau (Kautex) is a global market leader for high-end extrusion blow-moulding machines used for the production of complex technical parts and packaging. The company represents technological leadership and reliability in the field of blow-filling and holds several international patents. Kautex customers are automotive OEMs, leading automotive suppliers and industrial companies which use Kautex machines for complex applications such as the production of plastic fuel tanks for passenger cars as well as industrial and consumer packaging goods. Headquartered in Bonn, the company generates about 80% of its sales abroad and serves its international customers through sales and service organisations in all major industrial regions and ist subsidiaries in the USA and China.

Initial Situation

After several changes in ownership Kautex was acquired by a turnaround fund and brought back to profitability. After its successful restructuring, Borromin, together with the management, acquired 100% of Kautex in 2007, in order to drive the business's international growth.

Corporate Development

During the investment period Borromin worked closely with the company and advised and supported its management on the following processes:

• Expansion of the service business
• Building a production site in China and the expansion of its production facilities in Germany
• Development of new types of machines, e.g. a fully electric machine
• Development of new applications, e.g. for gas containers
• Establishment of innovative financial structures

In January 2013 Borromin sold its shares to Kautex management and a financial buyer.
